Cortez Recreation Center Move to Tier 2 Monday July 6, 2020

The recreation center staff is happy to announce that Tier I of the reopening plan has gone smoothly and we are ready for Tier II.  Starting Monday, July 6th, staying within the guidelines from the “7th amended public health order 20-28 safer at home” released June 18th, 2020, the recreation center will be able to offer the following services:

Facility hours will remain 5:30am-7:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Indoor swimming pool hours will remain 5:30am-2:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Lap lanes will be available for lap swimming, rhythmic water exercise, and water safety only. Reservations are required and can be made by telephone or in person 72 hours in advance. Three people per lap lane.  If more than one person in a lane the users of that lane must be from the same household.  Social distancing of 6 ft. between patrons between each lane.  

15 patrons will be allowed in half the gym for use of exercise equipment while continuing to adhere to 6 ft. of social distance

25 patrons will be allowed on fitness equipment located upstairs while continuing to adhere to 6 ft. of social distance

Walking track is available, not to exceed 10 patrons, middle lane for passing only.

½ the Gymnasium will be available for shooting baskets.  Only 3 patrons per basket.  Use of personal basketballs only.  No sharing of basketball unless in the same household.

Racquetball courts, 4 per court with no waiting or sharing the courts.  Reservations are required and can be made by telephone or in person 72 hours in advance. No fee for reservations at this time.

Public lockers are unavailable with the exception of the rented lockers in the main hall.

We will offer a very limited number of fitness classes. Reservations 72 hours in advance by notifying front desk in person or calling to reserve.  Classes must be paid for at time of reservation, no refunds for a no call no show. 9 patrons and 1 instructor in the Mesa/Canyon room. Adhering to 6 ft. social distance at all times. Reduced fee of $3.00 per class or included in membership.

5:35am-Spin class, Monday, Wednesday, Friday

9:00am-Zumba, Monday and Friday 

9:15am-Tai Chi, Tuesday and Thursday

12:00pm-Body Pump, Tuesday

Still closed until subsequent tiers:

Rock wall

Room reservations

Leisure pool/lazy river

Public restrooms

Child watch

Locker rooms (family changing rooms and upstairs bathrooms available)

Pool table

Limited fitness classes available.

Most lockers

What to expect when using the recreation center:

Temperatures will still be taken at the door.  Must be cooler than 100.4

Masks are required while walking around the building, but may be removed prior to exercising

Staff will continue wearing masks

There will continue to be a reduced entry fee of $3.00 per visit

Patrons will use the door near the rockwall for an exit

Patrons must maintain 6 ft. of social distance.
