In an effort to provide another venue for citizens to connect with their city government, the mayor is instituting office hours. Mayor Sheek will be available in the Mesa Verde Room -- just inside the front doors at City Hall -- the second and forth Tuesdays of each month, 12:30-1:30, to meet with any interested citizen. No appointment is necessary. Drop by, share a cup of coffee, and let's chat about ideas or concerns you have. Together, we can move our community forward!

Council work sessions are generally held at 5:30 p.m. (sometimes the work sessions are shorted depending upon the items needed to be reviewed). Each Work session is held prior the Council meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month and is for general discussion on any given topic. No decisions can be made by Council during the work session, it is only an information period.

Cortez City Council meetings are held to conduct City business which includes the review of City ordinances, resolutions and any other items that staff and the public may need to discuss with City Council. Council consists of 7 members and is elected at large by the community on even numbered years in April.
August 28, 2019, 7:00 AM - 8:30 AM @ Conquistador Golf Course
There are six members, two of which shall be City Council persons, four members which shall be Montezuma County residents and shall be appointed by the City Council, one member nominated by the Men’s Golf Association Board, one member to be nominated by the Women’s Golf Association Board, one member at large, and a local high school youth. Ex-officio members shall be the Mayor, City Manager, Director, Golf Pro, and Golf Course Superintendent, they will be allowed to also attend meetings with the other six members.

The Youth Commission is composed of 15 members ranging from ages 14-19, living within Montezuma County. Members are appointed by City Council on an annual basis.
