Sec. 27-56. Adoption by reference.
(a) Intent.
It is the intent of the city to promote water conservation in such way as to have efficient consumption of all water usage by residents, businesses, and local governments, and to provide beneficial uses of our water resources.
The following items are the basis for providing a Water Conservation Program:
(1) Conservation of water and the promotion of efficient usage is important to the city;
(2) Implementation of a water conservation plan will help extend existing water supplies to serve more uses;
(3) Reduction of summer water usage with lower demands can result in deferring future capital expenditures;
(4) The state of Colorado has determined that each water supplier that treats two thousand acre feet or more of water must have a water conservation plan adopted in 1996.
(b) Adoption of a Water Conservation Plan.
(1) There is adopted by reference as though the same were fully printed herein, the city of Cortez Water Conservation Plan. Updated copies of the plan are on file in the public works department and copies are available to the public for the cost of reproduction.
(2) The city of Cortez Water Conservation Plan is designed to be a dynamic document intended to be modified and added on to on a regular basis. Modifications to the plan may be done by resolution. (Ord. No. 819, §§ 1, 11.)

Sec. 27-99. Penalty.

Any violation of this chapter as codified shall subject the violator to a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars or imprisonment not to exceed one hundred eighty days or both such fine and imprisonment. (Ord. 972, § 1; amended by memo 3519.)
