City of Cortez Policy for links to other sites and calendar of
events
The City of Cortez,
Colorado, has created a website at www.cityofcortez.com. This policy
specifically addresses links created on this site.
The site is designed
to provide residents access to government departments, services and
programs. From time to time, departments may wish to provide links to
other sites that provide state or federal government information or
additional information about the community, including festivals,
cultural events and local news.
Links may be made to
websites that meet the following criteria:

Maintained by a non-profit charitable, educational,
hospital, scientific or cultural organization serving the Cortez area.
·
Maintained by an established news-gathering organization,
being either a newspaper of regular, paid circulation no less than 3,000
that has published at not less than weekly intervals within the City for
at least one year; or a television station whose over-the-air broadcast
signal Grade B contour provides local news regularly and maintains a
national network affiliation.
·
Maintained by a state, local or federal governmental
agency or local school or library board.
·
Maintained by an organization that receives direct
financial support from the City.
·
Maintained by an organization that leases space on City
property on an annual basis and provides a service to the general
public.
·
Provides a unique online tool to assist residents in
accessing information on the site or in communicating with each other,
i.e., Acrobat Reader.
Events may be added to
the calendar with the following guidelines:
·
All events must be held in the Cortez area and must be
open to the public.
·
Events may be sponsored by civic organizations, non-profit
organizations, or other public or community entities serving the Cortez
area.
·
No endorsements or commercial sponsorship.
·
All listings are subject to the approval of the Webmaster.
Groups
In order to avoid the
appearance of City endorsement of political content, links shall not be
made to sites that are associated with, sponsored by or serving a
candidate for elected office, any political party or organization
supporting or seeking to defeat any candidate for elective office or
ballot proposal.
Note: Links
made available to you through the City Of Cortez’s website will allow
you to leave the City’s site. Please be aware that the Internet sites
available through these links, and the materials that you may find
there, are not under the control of the City. Therefore, the City
cannot and does not make any representation to you about these sites or
the materials available there. The fact that the City has made these
links available to you is not an endorsement or recommendation to you by
the City of any of these sites or any material found there. The City is
