INVITATION TO BID

Sealed bids for furnishing the following to the City of Cortez, Colorado, will be received at the office of the Public Works Director, City Service Center, 110 West Progress Circle, Cortez, CO  81321, until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2008, at which time bids will be publicly opened and read. 

The project includes removal and replacement of older sidewalks, installation
of new sidewalks, and miscellaneous curb work through-out the City.

Bid documents, including plan sheets and details, can be examined in the Department of Public Works at the City Service Center in the  Industrial Park, 110 West Progress Circle, Cortez. 

Bids shall be submitted in writing on the documents provided and signed by the bidder or his duly authorized agent.  Bids shall be submitted in sealed envelopes and marked on the outside with “BID - 2008 CONCRETE COST-SHARE PROJECT - CITY OF CORTEZ” and with the bidder’s name.

The City reserves the right to waive any formality or any informality in the process of awarding a bid.  The City reserves the right to accept any bid, in whole or in part, and to reject any or all bids if it be deemed in the best interest of the City to do so.

PUBLIC NOTICE 

            The City of Cortez has received an application from the Vestry of St. Barnabas Church of the Valley Episcopal Church for a historic designation of its church structure.  The property is located at 110 West North Street and is purported to be a historic landmark, having been built in 1937 and serving as a geographical, spiritual, and social center for members of the community.  According to the Land Use Code, public hearings before the Historic Preservation Board and the City Council must be held to review all applications for local historic designation.

             A Public Hearing on this application will be held before the Cortez City Council on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 210 East Main Street, Cortez.

ORDINANCE NO. 1113, SERIES 2008

 

The Cortez Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on Ordinance No. 1113, Series 2008, on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at 6:30 p.m., in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 210 East Main Street, Cortez.  The ordinance, if adopted, would amend Cortez Land Use Code Section 5.06(c)(4) – Historic Signs - allowing for an unlimited number of historic signs and amending the procedure and provisions by which signs receive historic designation.

          The City of Cortez has received an application from C&R Development for a four-unit townhome subdivision to be located on the northwest corner of Elm and Third Streets, in the Neighborhood Business (NB) Zoning District.  The property is 14,200 square feet in size and consists of Lots 9-12 in Block 54 of the Cortez Original Townsite.  According to the City’s Land Use Code, this development must go through public hearings prior to approval by the City. 

          A Public Hearing on this application will be held before the Cortez Planning and Zoning Commission at their regular meeting on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 210 East Main Street, Cortez.
