Excercise Classes
The Cortez Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of exercise classes for all ages and abilities.  For everything from spin bike to yoga, boot camp to Silver Sneakers, check out our classes page and be sure to find a class that suits you.

Sports Leagues
There are many sports leagues offered for both adults and youth.  Men's and women's leagues as well as coed opportunities. Check out our Sports League page to find one that interests you.

Senior Trips
The City of Cortez offers four opportunities for seniors 60 years of age and older to get together and travel as a group.  The summer of 2016 trips are now posted.

Durango DayTrip to raft the Las Animas Rapids- The 2 hour Raft Trip includes class I, II, and III rapids is for those with time constraints or are unsure if they or their group will enjoy rafting. Don't worry, you will! Fee includes lunch, transportation and rafting. $50
June 16th

Night Trip to Farmington
-Dinner and the Sandstone production of 'The Adams Family". $35 includes transportation, show tickets, and dinner.  July 14th.

Hovenweep Hike and Museum
-Guided tour at Hovenweep National Monument.  Learn about all the exciting history of the ancients from a National Park Ranger.  Pack a lunch and enjoy the company of fellow participants. August 18th

Leaf Peepers Trip to Telluride
-Ride along and observe the beautiful Colorado fall foilage.  Ride the gondola from Mountain Village in Telluride for lunch and back again.  $30 includes transportation and lunch.  Gondola ride is free. September 29th.

Youth Activites
Playground Day Camp  This program provides children ages five to ten an opportunity for a structured daily camp.  The program runs Monday through Friday beginning Monday, June 6th and runs through Friday, August 5th.  Many different activities scheduled throughout the week including sports, games, arts, crafts, cultural awareness, Montezuma School to Farm, swimming and field trips.  Cost for the camp is $18/day.  Registration begins May 1st.

Arbor Day Celebration-"Celebrating Trees in Our Community". This program is designed for 4th grade students attending school in the Cortez, Dolores, and Mancos school districts.  April 28th at the City Park from 12:30pm to 2:00pm.  Bring a lunch. 

Skate Park Competition-Great athletes come demonstrate ollies, kickflips and grinds at the City of Cortez Skate Park June 4th, beginning at 9:00am.  Free for all ages and abilities.  Contact Rindy Eubanks at 970-529-3360 for more information.

Free Fly Fishing Clinic-Young people under the age of 18 interested in learning the art of fly fishing, casting, equipment use, knot tying, fly selection and a personalized fishing experience at the Parque de Vida pond.  June 4th. Register at the front desk in the recreation Center.

Free Fly Fishing Derby-A time for the whole family to participate in the fun.  Prizes and giveaways occur throughout the derby.  This free event is hosted by the Dolore River Anglers of Trout Unlimited in conjunction with the City of Cortez and the Cortez Rotary.  Derby date is June 4th and will begin at 5:30pm.
