The Special Events Division provides consultation and planning assistance to area event producers, for-profit, non-profit,
government and community service organizations; negotiation of city services which include location, event promotion, logistics, production as well as on-site event support. The city’s office of Special Events collaborates with local, regional, tribal, statewide and national event media, promotional resources and service providers.

The city’s office of Special Events collaborates with local, regional, tribal, statewide and national event media, promotional resources and service providers.Under the direction of the City Manager, the Special Events Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of promoting an approved annual calendar of regional events to maximize event participation and promote the City of Cortez. The office of Special Events designs, develops and implements comprehensive marketing plans for event, adventure and cultural tourism or related activities, promoting a year-round calendar of activities.
Assistance is also available for event producers in obtaining resources necessary to make events successful, self-sufficient and sustainable while measuring the impact of specific events and the year-round calendar on the tourist economy and perception of Cortez as a source for visitors to experience a broad range of activities.
