Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Division
The following maps and information are now available:
- Zoning Map - This is a frequently requested map that shows current zoning designations, subdivision boundaries, road right-of-ways and Lot/Parcel Numbers. This map complements the City of Cortez Land Use Code which is now on-line
- City of Cortez Area of Influence - This maps shows the City's 3 mile "Area of Influence" buffer as well as road and land ownership designations throughout Montezuma County.
- Montezuma County Land Database System - Contains property information such as land use permits, septic permits and exemptions. The most current ownership and tax information can be found in the Assessors Office parcel information system.
Note: These maps are typically 1-4 megabytes to download - A high speed Internet connection is recommended.
The City's GIS program maintains a complete set of geospatial data (planimetrics) both within the City limits and up to a mile beyond the City limits. The data is in the Colorado State Plane South-NAD 83 coordinate system and is stored in the ESRI Geodatabase format.
There are 17 layers of feature information including buildings, street edge-of-pavement, street centerlines, 2' contours, property parcels, fiber optic lines, waterlines and fire hydrants.
We also maintain a complete set of color digital orthography. In April 2005, a new aerial photography flight was completed at 1" = 100' and 1" = 400'. The aerial photography matchs the planimetrics so they can be overlaid on the photography.
Paper maps are available for purchase at any scale and any size up to 42" x 60" and are priced accordingly. These can be customized to meet the customer's needs. Data is also available for purchase in digital format. The following maps are available: City Streets, Master Streets Plan, Zoning, Subdivision, Zoning/Subdivision, and Parcels. These maps can be purchased at the City Service Center, Public Works Department, 110 West Progress Circle.
