Cortez Public Library

The Cortez Public Library, located at 202 N. Park, currently has over 75,000 books, videos and audio books for patrons to check out, and the collection is constantly growing! Books and audios check out for three weeks. Videos and DVDs check out for one week. Patrons can check out up to 20 items at any given time.

The library catalog is available online.  Instructions on using the library catalog are here.If we don't have the book you want, we can usually get it for you from another library through Interlibrary Loan. Depending on availability, it takes an average of two weeks to get a book for you to borrow. To take advantage of this service, contact the Library at 565-8117.

Free Internet access is provided at the Cortez Public Library. Twenty-five computers are available to patrons on a first come, first serve basis. Stop by the Library and check out this wonderful service!

Need to do some serious research?  The library has subscriptions to databases that contain magazine articles, photographs, newspaper articles, audio and video files.  If you have a library card, our staff can tell you the secret passwords to get into these fabulous resources.  Contact the library, 565-8117.

Downloadable Audio Books
Do you enjoy listening to books? The Cortez Public Library is now providing downloadable audio books. Patrons can sign up for an account at the library, go home and download the software to their home computers and be able to download audio books to their computers, their iPods or MP3 players.
 
The subscription, through Recorded Books, includes access to 1,700 audio books for MP3 players and 700 books for iPods at this time and more are added every month. There are children’s books too.
 
The company has promised that they are creating software for libraries to install so patrons that do not have computers can download books at the library.

POETRY CORNER PRESENTS... David Feela
 
In Celebration of National Poetry Month, David Feela is back!  He will read from his newest book, "The Home Atlas" along with some of his other poems.  Before and after, the stage is yours!  Bring an original poem or read one of your old favorites for the Open Mic.
