RECORDS
The Police Department's Records Division houses and keeps secure all crime and traffic reports generated by Cortez Police Officers.   Whenever a citizen needs a police report from an incident that the Cortez Police have handled, that report can be obtained from the Records Division.  Whenever a police report is released to a citizen, a pecuinary gain form must be filled out and signed.  This is required by Colorado Revised Statue 24-74-305.5.

The Records Division is open to the public from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday and 7:00 am to 3:00 pm on Fridays (mountain standard time).

APPLICANT FINGERPRINTING
Fingerprinting is performed at the Police Department every Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  The fee for this service is $10.00.  The fees collected for this service are deposited in the General Fund account of the City of Cortez.

VEHICLE VIN VERIFICATIONS
Verifications are performed every weekday at the Police Department from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, at no charge.  If coming to the Police Department for a VIN Verification is too difficult, a request may be made for a Police Officer to come to your residence to perform the verification, as long as the residence is within the City of Cortez.  

SEX OFFENDER MAP
A map showing where sex offenders live within the City of Cortez is available within the Records Division at the Police Department.  This map may be viewed by the public for information purposes, during regular office hours.

BICYCLE REGISTRATION
Bicycles can be registered at the Police Department, Monday through Friday.  Please complete the Bicycle Registration Form and bring to the Records Section for registration.
