Kennel Technician Aide. The City of Cortez Police Department is accepting applications for a Part-Time Kennel Technician Aide, for 20 hours per week. Responsibilities of the position are: Care of stray, abandoned or impounded animals on a daily basis, cleans kennels and cat cages; vaccinates animals, assists with answering phones, takes lost and found reports, takes in animals, adopts out animals and fills out proper paper work. Qualifications are: ability to learn animal control regulations, laws and ordinances; must have a genuine liking for animals and concern for their welfare; must be able to communicate effectively with the public and co-workers; must be able to perform strenuous physical activities and be able to lift at least 50 pounds; must be punctual and dependable; must be able to work weekends and flexible hours; and must be able to analyze and act responsibly in any situation, make independent decisions, and complete all necessary daily tasks. Must be 18 years of age or older and a high school graduate or equivalent. Must possess a valid Colorado drivers license. Beginning salary for the position is $8.75/hour. Lifeguards. The City of Cortez is accepting applications for (4) Four Lifeguards at the Recreation Center in the Parks and Recreation Department. Some of the responsibilities of the position are: enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations; recognize and respond to emergencies; and inspect facility on a daily schedule and report unsafe conditions to supervisor. Applicants must be a certified lifeguard or be able to obtain certification. Beginning salary is $7.28 per hour.
