Welcome
to the City of Cortez Building Division. We want your project to be as
successful as possible and help avoid potential problems that could cost
you time and money.
The City has adopted
and is enforcing the following codes:

- 2006 International Energy Code
- 2006 International Fire Code
- 2006 International Residential Code
- 2006 International Property Maintenance Code
- 2006 International Fuel Gas Code
- 2006 International Mechanical Code
- 2006 International Plumbing Code
- 2006 Land Use Code, As Amended through December 2006

The
City's Building Official is WADE GREENE, certified through the International
Conference of Building Officials (ICBO). This voluntary certification
Program of ICBO benefits the community, as the application of this knowledge
leads to safer buildings.
Below is a list of all building brochures the City has developed to inform the
public of general requirements. Please check with the Building Official
for additional requirements.

The following permit application forms are used by the Building Department for review of any projects proposed to be done within the City limits. Hopefully, they will help you plan your project. These forms are provided for your convenience; however, each one will require the review and approval of the Building Department PRIOR TO THE START OF ANY CONSTRUCTION.
Note: Some applications are marked as "sample forms". These are only examples for your information. Original forms must be picked up at the City Service Center. Please call the Public Works Department at (970) 565-7320 for more information.
