The City of Cortez has several vacancies on
various boards and commissions. If you are interested in serving on one
of these boards, please submit you letter of interest to City Hall, City
Clerk's Office, 210 East Main Street, Cortez, CO 81321, by 5:00 p.m.,
Wednesday, April 2, 2008. The boards are as follows:
*Parks, Recreation, and Forestry
Advisory Board – 2 openings for two-year terms
*Planning and Zoning Commission – 1
opening for a three-year term
*Board of
Adjustment and Appeals – 2 openings for three-year terms

Board of Adjustments and Appeals
The Board of Adjustments and Appeals meets as called. The Board is made up of five members. Current Board members are:

Golf Advisory Board
The Golf Advisory Board provides a liaison between the golf community and the Parks & Recreation Department. Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month.
The City of Cortez has a
vacancy for one City resident to serve on the Golf Advisory Board.
Responsibilities of the board member shall be to act in an advisory
capacity to the Parks & Recreation Department and the City Council
concerning the operation and master planning of the Conquistador Golf
Course. This will be a two-year appointment. The Golf Advisory Board
meets on the last Thursday of each month, 7:00 a.m., at the Recreation
Center from March through November. Applicants should submit a letter
of interest to the City Clerk’s Office, City Hall, 210 East Main Street,
Cortez, Colorado 81321, by Friday, March 23, 2007, 5:00 p.m..

Historic Preservation Board
The Historic Preservation Board meets on the first Wednesday
of each month at 5:00 p.m. The Board is made up of seven members.
One member serves as a representative from each Planning & Zoning, the Main
Street Association, and the Chamber of Commerce. The other four positions
are at large. Current members are:

Library Board
The Library Board serves in an advisory capacity to both the
librarian and the City Council. Meetings are held on the third Monday of
most months. Current board members are:

Parks, Recreation And Forestry Board
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board helps with the ongoing development of a parks master plan and helps to resolve issues that arise amongst recreation participants and teams. Meetings are held on the third
Thursday of each month
at the Recreation Center at 7a.m..
The City of Cortez has two seats available on the Parks, Recreation,
and Forestry Advisory Board, one for in-City resident and one for a
County resident. Some of the responsibilities include: review and make
recommendation to the Parks and Recreation Director concerning Parks and
Recreation Department programs, facilities, procedures, master plan and
long range development, rules, and fees; bring comments, complaints and
suggestions to the advisory board; help to promote the programs and
facilities of the Parks and Recreation Department; and review and make
recommendations to the City Council as needed on budget, policy and the
master plan. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at
7:00 a.m., at the Cortez Recreation Center. Special meetings may be
called as needed. Applicants should submit a letter of interest to the
City Clerk’s Office, City of Cortez, 210 East Main Street, Cortez,
Colorado 81321, by 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2007.
