Cortez Housing Affordability and Mitigation Plan (CHAMP)

The City of Cortez Planning & Building Department is excited to announce the “2019 – 2020 Cortez Housing Affordability and Mitigation Plan (CHAMP)” incentive program.

On February 12th 2019 the Cortez City Council approved Resolution No. 3, Series 2019 authorizing the City of Cortez Planning & Building Department to discount permit and use tax fees for new residential construction by 75%. The resolution also authorizes a 100% discount for permit and use tax fees for any brand new HUD or Colorado IRC approved Manufactured Home that is installed.

For a typical 1400 sq. ft. home, this means a potential savings of around $4,100.00 and the permit holder is exempt from sales tax on all building materials purchased locally!

This program targets portions of the City that are underutilized and/or are in decline. Reference the “2019 – 2020 CHAMP Incentive Area Map” for specific areas that are excluded from this program.

We are pleased to inform everyone that the Four Corners Board of Realtors (970-565-0112) and other stakeholders are working towards taking advantage of this program. For more information, please contact the Planning & Building Department at 970-565-3402 Ex. 1144.
