Elections


The municipal election for the City of Cortez is held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in April in even numbered years. The 2020 election was held on April 7, 2020 with 14 candidates vying for 5 seats.  The general municipal election in 2020 elected five Council members. The three candidates that received the highest number of votes were elected for a term of four years and the next two candidates that received the next highest number of votes were elected for a term of two years.

Councilmember Orly Lucero (elected in 2018 for 4 year seat)

Councilmember David Rainey (elected in 2020 for 4 year seat)
